To what extent has the workplace changed over the last 50 years? The workplace has had various changes since the 1970s following the civil rightsmovement that gave women a voice in determining their role in the society. The womengradually moved away from the homemaking tasks and moved into the workplace though theirpay, handling, and the ability to soil high in the corporate ladder were far from the males. Atpresent, the workplace demographics have changed by the influx of the women, minorities, thehandicapped, and the younger workers at all levels (Black, 2007). The management has toconsider the preferences, beliefs, and the values of the various groups of the workforce. In the past few decades, the changed experienced in technology, cultural sensitivity, andother legalities have significantly transformed the workplace. In regard to technology, theworkplace changed slowly to give the workers adequate time to learn more about the new toolsand technicalities (David, 2015). For instance, the marketing department can no longer rely onthe traditional methods due to the emergence of the social media platforms. Microsoft Powerpoint and Webinars have taken the place of overhead presentations. The employees requireregular training on the use of the new technologies and their application in accomplishing thecompany roles.
