The perspective that the reportfocuses its analysis upon, is the current state of the IT support infrastructure andresources as to whether or not, the current capabilities are being efficiently utilised,and whether or not, this is better utilised wider the proposed trimester model,Analysis into the requirements of the IT support services, as well as the GriffithUniversity organisational unit as a whole, provided a number of benefits as well asthe associated risks involved, with implementing a trimester model.The resultant recommendations provided in the report, details a transition toward atrimester model, would benefit Griffith University in a multitude of ways inachieving many of Griffith's goals and objectives in key areas such as making thesystem more flexible to changes in the competitive environment and future proofingthe university against the decrease in local student enrolment currently beingexperienced and statistically forecasted.The trimester model, also addressed the under utilisation issue, experienced by theIT support services as well as ninny other resources within the University, in that anextension to the academic calendar year, would result in these under used orotherwise idle resources, being used to their full intended purpose to maximiserevenue and turnover. Addressing those issues with the trimester model, provides the supply to counteract and increase local student demand it would bring,through offering attractive features, such as flexible study options and degreeprogram pathways, that students look for in a fast paced study environment of today_ The report has responded to the requirements brought forth through the analysis andelicitation of various stakeholders groups and further investigated the underlyingfunctional and non-functional components of the system that the users interact with.Through the use of many analysing techniques and frameworks that assist indetermining the feasibility of trimester model for Griffith University it has beenobserved, that the trimester model brings a level of robustness to the definedproblem areas and is a solution that Griffith University should strongly consider.Some limitations in the compilation of this report include the elicitation of requirementsstemming from reports, plans and statistical data, which may not provide all the requirementsneeded. Also, having elicited the requirements from reports and not having access to the ITsupport staff for interviewing, much of the analysis deals with information from an "as-is"context.
