In vitro fertilization is a mechanismthrough which an egg or sperms provide by the donor is used in the process of fertilizationoutside human body by providing of adequate requirement. After fertilization, the egg the fetus istransferred to the surrogate mothers for continued development (Coughlan, Ledger, and Ola,2011). The desired characteristic must be ensured before the initiation of the fertilization process.Both features of the parents' and donor are integral in stipulating the behaviors of the newprogeny. The donor with an excellent genetic profile is chosen since the risks of transmittinginheritable diseases are minimized. The biographical information for a parent or donor has hugeeffects on the process as some of the genetic disorders are stimulated through infection andexposure to the teratogen (Coughlan, Ledger, and Ola, 2011). The genetic information will berelevant in assisting in the determination of the relevance of geographical background affectingthe results. In vitro fertilization is beneficial to those people with a different sexual orientationsuch as gay and lesbian and chooses to have a child (Coughlan, Ledger, and Ola, 2011). Diseasesstate may cause infertility which prevents the parent from bearing a child left only with thisoption. The risk of transmission of genetic disorder is influenced by the state of the diseasessuch as dominant or recessive. The potential for transmission of a dominant gene is a half whilefor the recessive gene is 1 in every 4 cases.The possible genetic disorder transmittable to thefetus include cystic fibrosis, sickle cell anemia, lynch syndrome, muscular dystrophy, and IN VITRO FERTILIZATION 3down`s syndrome. Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disorder which is associated with persistent lungand gastrointestinal infection causing inability to breathe as time progresses (Cohen and Prince,2012). While muscular dystrophy is a genetic disorder caused by protein mutation of essentialgenes in the formation of healthy muscles hence it characterized by progressive loss of musclemass and weakness. Cystic fibrosis depicts symptoms such as persistent coughing, wheezing,bulky stools, frequent lung infection and retarded growth. Weakening of arms and leg muscles toa point where an individual cannot walk, cardiomyopathy, poor balance, calf deformation, andrespiratory difficulties are symptoms of muscular dystrophy (Dulac, Lassonde, and Sarnat,2013). In both cases, the quality of life is reduced some of the individuals able to live but withdifficulties, however.A perfect donor for in vitro fertilization should be free of any genetic disorder as theycompletely reduce the quality of life and the child is at risk of having mental, breathing,digestion and working difficulties to mention but a few.
