  • "Fossil Fuels:Fossil fuels have proved to be one of the biggest reasons in increasing the temperature. Thiscan be in various ways like burning of coal, oil and natural gases which is used to generateenergy. These have a great impact on the changing climate as well as the atmosphere of theplanet. According to the scientists globally the power generation is the main factor as itgenerates about twenty three billion tonnes of carbon dioxide every year which if calculatedcomes to around seven hundred tonnes per second. There are several industries which inorder to make some products uses so many chemicals and toxic materials which whenreleased not only results in increasing the temperature but also pollutes the air. Coal on theother hand plays a great role in damaging the atmosphere of the planet as it releases aroundseventy percent or even more of carbon dioxide instead of natural gas for every unit of theenergy produced. Nature is responding towards the climatic change at a great speed. Theanimals as well as the plants and all the other species are not at all interested in any publicpolicy. They just adapt whatever they get because they are left with no other option. Hence, itbecomes a do or dies for them as they must change to survive or else die. Therefore, now asthe climate is changing rapidly and animals are left with no option many of them havelearned to adapt according to the temperature. Many of the animals have also learned tomigrate to the cooler places as well as also modify their diets and the breeding cycles. Endangered Animals and species:Studies done regarding the endangered species as well as animals concludes that theseanimals are more likely to face troubles with the changing climate. Their chances to survivedecreases dramatically even with the slightest change in the temperature. Few of theproblems faced by these animals due to the change in temperature are risk of drought, infection, feeding, breeding and many more. These problems are faced especially in summers as the temperature rises beyond the range that the animals can thrive. If for example we take avery common animal such as an elephant. The optimum temperature than an elephant canthrive is twenty three degree Celsius and when the temperature increases more than this itleaves the elephant in a very vulnerable condition. The words used by Mumby for theelephant is, “We think of elephants as very resilient animals, very robust, but then we see atthe same time there is a very narrow range at which they are at their optimal survival. If theclimate changes by even a few degrees it can substantially reduce survival.” Again shecontinues by saying, “We found that the youngest elephants, the calves, are quite susceptibleto extremes. Once we move out of their optimal to their maximum temperature, it doublestheir mortality risk.”New discovery has been done that the calves of the animals like elephant are highlythreatened by the increasing temperature as these offspring are integral for them to survive. As we the human beings reproduce later in life, elephants too do the same thing. Thus, if thelife of the calves ends before they mate then the species are in danger and cannot live. Bird Species:According to the reports of National Wildlife one hundred and seventy seven NorthAmerican bird species from three hundred and five have migrated thirty five miles towardsnorth in last few decades. As per the scientists the change in the climate is occurring very fastwith which the majority of the species cannot cope and run. Again even if some of themsucceed in migrating they will have to face many other challenges such as food competition, interactions. The other problem is that the species already in the northern area or their limitsdo not have further space to move. The rising temperature affects the timing of the seasonallife cycle for the animals that are mating or migrating.Global warming affects the earth in many ways which finally affects the animals as well asother living beings on the earth. They bring intensifying rainfall, floods, hurricanes as well asdroughts. Over the last few decades or say fifty years the temperature of Arctic has increasedtwo to three times faster than any other part of the world. This also leads to the change inhabitat as well as food supply. The spring weather conditions here are mostly veryunpredictable having huge swings the whole year. Boelman explained that “Animals livingand migrating up there are well adapted to big swings and extremes. Perhaps they will reactless to climate change because they are already well adapted. We are looking at if we arestarting to exceed the range of conditions they can cope with.” Conclusion:Changing climate presents one of the major as well as growing challenge to not only someparts of the world but the whole world as whole world is experiencing the change intemperature and climate. The upcoming generations and the future are the one who are goingto face a lot of problems as well as challenge. The actions or the inactions taken today will befaced by the world in coming years. The result of fast changing climatic conditions will bringchanges in the environmental changes and hence which will present a lot of risks and alongwith it also many opportunities. If we look at the reduction of the sea ice inthe summers wefind it threatens the future of many species which are highly dependent on the ice but alongwith this if we try to find out opportunities we see that it will also increase the marine accessto the resources as well as population centres. The animal kingdoms are facing the broadestas well as complex issues as they cannot do anything to help themselves. Thus, from ourwork we get a clear idea that the changes in climate, temperature as well as animals will bevery gradual. Again if the climatic system of the earth evolves differently then surprises can "
