Addiction towards technology in Morden era

With the quick growth of technology, there has been a debate on how we are using technology in our life. Many people think that we are now abusing modern devices to hold up for our own life; while others reckon that using technology gets us just good things and compose our life easier. According to what I have observed and experienced, I believe that people, today, have been overly dependent on technology.

To begin with, it is not tough to recognize the integral role of technology in houses. Housewives, today, are no longer housewives as it used to mean. They do approximately every task with the assistance of modern machines. They have clothes washed by washing machine in place of doing that by hand as before or they clean dish just by putting them into a dishwasher. In the past, televisions seemed like the luxurious thing but each family at the present has at least one or even more than two TV sets in their house. It is now common to catch an image of many children or some adults spending most of their time in front of the screens containing a variety of attractive things.

What is more, workplaces are becoming more and more dependent upon knowledge. In almost every company, there is a higher computerized system that makes tasks much easier and quicker. Most of employees have their own mobile phone/computer so that they can exchange information or documents once they want without leaving their desks. As well, there are many kinds of machine such as printers, photocopiers etc that create working as easy as walking. In adding, in term of education, students are at the present also using too much modern devices for their studying. They do calculations still the most simple using portable calculators. They also take benefit of the Internet to do assignments without many efforts.

On the other hand, many people think that people mistreatment technology just brings good points. It makes our world easier to live as it helps people do all tasks efficiently. Though, that is not always right. In spite of a wide range of benefits from modern technology, we cannot overlook bad points it brings. Using modern devices for everything makes people lazier and more inactive in life. It causes the creativity of human beings to reduce which is very unsafe for mankind's future.

After Christopher Columbus discovered North America, people worldwide became obsessed on The New World, that later allowed people to begin new beginnings and progress towards better opportunities. The United States has the best benchmark of living compared to other countries in the world with its accessible technologies and a variety of education avenues. As America advances socially in the 21st century, Americans have to consider the awards and consequences of progress.

Within the 21st century, cell phones have become a "must have" since their ability to increase access to email, Facebook, news, bank accounts and information with a tap on a screen or push of a button. Technology has made linking with people easier, maintaining tasks simpler and obtaining facts faster.

Nonetheless, has this convenience made the nation too dependent on the rewards of technology? Despite its ease, technology has caused people to become so reliant that, in a poll by CNET, 28 percent of people said they wouldn't be capable to live without high-speed Internet. The younger generation has misplaced its curious nature to discover to world. In its place, children are hiding behind a TV screen or Xbox game. Many people my age don't still know how to use a traditional can opener, search through Yellow Pages to find doctors in the local area or look up information in libraries and encyclopedias. However technology has allowed us to improve and modify traditional tasks, it has also clouded our understanding of the dependency we have on it.

Since the fall of 1970, pursuit of college education has increased from 8,581 students to 20,428 enrolled in the 2009 fall term. Education has developed into the network of many avenues that now allows average American to obtain education easier. Higher education has divided out from the traditional university into online degrees, trade schools, and junior colleges. Obtain a high school education has also advanced; high school students can take AP courses and high school drop outs can acquire a GED.

With the number of prospects America provides to obtain an education, why is America ranked as average in the international education ratings? The number of options available has caused our country to have no goal to stand out. Though, other countries have less options and freedoms that may be the motivation that allows them to acquire higher education rankings than the U.S.

My generation is liable to want to learn information only relevant to its own benefit. Many have even developed a mindset to pass courses with the lowest rank possible although the C or even D letter grade. This outlook that passing with a low letter grade is suitable contributes to America's average ranking among other countries.

The military uses technology to monitor our nation against national threats and more and education is required to obtain a substantial salary. For itself technology and education are becoming the backbone of our country. As newer generations are short of initiative to take academics seriously and fantasize about the newest and fastest technologies coming available, America will start off to lack the spark of paradise that was once known as The New World.

In end, it is clear that we depend on modern technology too much nowadays. People should carefully second thoughts about how they should use modern machines for tasks; or else, one day, machines would swap the position of human beings to control world.
