Question

What is a blood clot? What is it composed of? What vitamin and what mineral are essential to blood clotting? A blood clot is a mass that is semisolid forming when our bodies are injured. Blood clots stop the bleeding from the blood vessels that are affected in the injury. Now there are two main blood clots that we have. A thrombus is a blood clot that stays in its place while an embolus is a blood clot that is mobile, traveling through the blood system. It is a combination of blood components such as platelets, fibrin as well as red and white blood cells. Some vitamins that are essential to blood clotting are Vitamin K, C, E, and B12. A few minerals that also are essential to blood clotting are calcium, iron, zinc, and magnesium.
