You are a juvenile court judge. A case that involves a 16-year-old juvenile comes to you. The 16-year-old is accused of murdering his father by stabbing him during an argument over the curfew. The juvenile has had only one other run-in with the law, which was an accusation of assault during a robbery. Because it was their first offense, they received one year of probation. It has been more than a year since the probation was completed. Based on the evidence you hear during the adjudication hearing, you find the juvenile guilty of murder. Based on your finding of the offense committed, you are allowed by law to sentence the juvenile to either juvenile or adult prison.
