Question: Make a Geologic Time Scale for the Phanerozoic Eon. It does not actually have to be to scale, but please include all three Eras of the Phanerozoic, all Periods of each of the Eras, and Finally, all the Epochs of the Cenozoic Era. Also, label these boundaries with how many millions of years ago they occurred. For instance, the boundary between the Cambrian and Ordovician should be around 488 million years ago (scales can vary a little). Mark these times on the scale.
1. ALL periods from each of the three Eras of the Phanerozoic Eon must be shown in the proper order, with oldest at the bottom, or the left-hand side (depending on the orientation of your diagram). You do not have to include the PreCambrian "Eon" on your scale. ALSO, just for the Cenozoic Era, include labels and years for not only the periods, but also the epochs. You only have to label the epochs for the Cenozoic, but show the periods for all three eras.
2. Be sure to also include the EPOCHS of the Cenozoic (with their ages). You do not have to show epochs for the Paleozoic or the Mesozoic, though. Just the Cenozoic (such as Paleocene, Eocene, Oligocene, etc.).
3. You will be labeling the boundaries between all periods (and the Cenozoic Epochs as well) with numbers showing how many millions of years ago each boundary occurred. Please also indicate on your diagram that you are using units of "millions of years ago". For instance, where the line (boundary) is that separates the Cambrian Period from the Ordovician Period, there needs to be the number 488, which means "488 million years ago." That way, you don't have to show all the zeroes. The numbers should line up along side the boundaries, not between them.
