Crating a Persuasive Message
A persuasive message is a form of communication designed to influence an audience's thoughts, feelings, or actions regarding an idea, product, service, or cause. It's about moving people to adopt a new attitude, belief, or behavior or to reinforce existing ones.
The core purpose of persuasive message is to influence an audience's thoughts, feelings, or actions.
Assignment Objective: This assignment will challenge you to identify a cause, product, or idea you believe in and then craft a persuasive message designed to influence a specific audience.
Read the article above. Choose One of following scenarios to base your persuasive message on:
1. Persuade your Boss that Your Idea is Great for the Company's mission and goals. Think of a process, idea, new system or process, product or service that would be great for the company's sales, mission, goodwill, brand or all the above. 2. Advocating for a Local Cause: Select a local issue or cause in Cumberland County or the county you live in. Your goal is to persuade the County Commissioners to support or get involved with this cause.
Please use the following outline
1. Outline the problem you are looking to solve for the company or community.
A. State the problem or purpose.
B. Provide data driven evidence. (articles, statistical data from credible sources, newspaper articles etc.) You must cite the sources in the body of
the proposal and the reference page.
2. Describe your idea and explain how it solves the problem.
3. Provide evidence your idea will work. Must be from credible sources to support your idea.
4. Explain why the company or county commissioners should invest. State your call to action. Remember you are influencing an audience's thoughts, feelings, or action towards your idea. Research persuasive language (Pathos, Logos and Ethos). You must incorporate one or all of these techniques in your explanation.
5. The proposal must be at least two-pages, double-spaced, and well-written.
6. Provide at least two to three credible sources to prove the idea is great. You must use APA format to cite your sources.
7. Reference Page is required. Your citations must be in APA style and you must quote the citation in the body of the proposal.
