Question: When you enrolled in this class, you brought with you an area of psychology in which you were interested, as well as a general research topic. Remember that your dissertation topic needs to be appropriate to your academic specialization. Students in the social psychology specialization, for example, should not be completing a dissertation on a topic more appropriate to clinical psychology. This is a conversation you should have with your chair. The literature review you conducted in the literature review class helped you learn about your area of research interest, as you did your classwork, independent work, and personal experience.

Sharing your dissertation topic and receiving feedback is critical to completing your degree, and for your career as a scholar practitioner. Walden University's academic integrity policy strongly prohibits ‘stealing ideas' and insists that original authorship be respected. Walden takes this very seriously, and violation may be grounds for dismissal from the University (Walden University Student Handbook, 2020-2021). You are therefore expected to describe your research in detail in the coming weeks and if you are attending this class with others, you are asked to treat others' ideas with the utmost integrity and respect.
