History
•The University has a long history of excellent learning, teaching, and research reaches back 140 years and is founded in technical and trade education of the 19th century.

Location and transport
•There is a network of routes for cyclists and good bus and train links to the rest of the country.
•Leicester is just 75 minutes from London St Pancras, and the Eurostar hub, meaning Paris is only four hours by train. East Midlands Airport is thirty minutes away with regular flights to destinations across Europe.
•The Highcross shopping centre has become one of the premier destinations for the shoppers in the midalnds, with around 120 shops, 15 restaurants and cafes and Leicester's first city centre multiplex cinema.
•Leicester caters for about every culinary taste with drink and food from around the world. Cuisines range from Mexican and Italian to sushi and tapas, whilse, restuarants include well known chains and smaller, more intimate venues that are full of atmosphere.. And, of course, it’s one of the best places in Britain to get a curry.

Entry standards
•UCAS points required for DMU's BA/BSc (Hons) degrees range from 260-320 points. Some courses need specific grades in related subjects.
•DMU welcomes applicants from the wide range of backgrounds and recognizes prior qualifications and experience.

Academic strengths

Student facilities, including library and computing
•The library is open whole day and night, has wireless networks, over 400 computers, syndicate rooms for the group work, 24 hours opening and a cafe.
•Three Learning Zones offer space for group and individual work. There are around 1,600 study places and nearly 600 computer workstations, plus syndicate rooms with the interactive whiteboards and DVD and video services. Practice presentations or work in privacy.

Sport
•DMU's John Sandford sports centre is situated on campus and is within the walking distance from the halls of residence.
•The centre offers a variety of indoor sports including squash, netball, basketball, badminton and aerobics. There is a varity of fitness equipment.
•The students can get involved with DSU sports clubs, ranging from rowing and martial arts, to rugby and the football teams, who play their annual Varsity matches with Leicester University at the Leicester Tigers and Leicester City stadiums.
