History
•Brunel College of Advanced Technology was awarded its Royal Charter in the year 1966, becoming Brunel University.
•The University was named after I. K. Brunel, the university has sought to emulate the entrepreneurship, great engineer's energy, creativity and practicality.
Location and transport
•Located in Uxbridge in West London, just inside M25 with easy reach to the M4, M40 and central London and the Home Counties.
•Around 15 minute walk from Uxbridge tube station, 10 minute bus journey to West Drayton train station and 20 minute drive to Heathrow Airport.

Course flexibility
•All courses comprise self-enclosed modules, most offering optional topics (including modules from other courses).
•Brunel pioneered the sandwich course, and still provides many programmes in thin or thick sandwich formats which include wide work-related placements.
Teaching standards
•A number of programmes have external validation from the professional bodies, like Physiotherapy, Industrial and Product Design, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science and IS.
Research standards
•The resent Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), carried out in all UK universities in the year 2008, judged 82 per cent of our research to be of international standing.
Academic strengths
•Academic facilities, accessible to students, include driving flight, and train simulators, motion-capture equipment, 3-D body scanner and MRI scanner, occupational therapy suite, and wide variety of sports and performing arts facilities.
•Courses draw on much of the Brunel's internationally prominent research in, for instance, Environmental Science, Cancer Genetics, Human-Centred Design, Contemporary Music, Materials Processing, and Digital Performance, Able Children's Education and Sports Medicine.
Student facilities, including library and computing
•Medical Centre provides the standard NHS services.
•It assists overseas students including the provision of language and other short courses.
Sport
•The University is one of the UK's top institutions in sport. Several students, graduates and staff have represented their countries at Olympic Games and World Championships as participants and coaches.
