F. Warren McFarlan Baker Foundation Professor
I am McFarlan Shantz. I joined HBS in 1997 as a Professor of Business Administration. Professor Healy teaches in several executive education programs, and is faculty co chair of Strategic Financial Analysis for Business Evaluation. I have done my B.C.A. Honours (1st Class) in Finance and Accounting from Victoria University, New Zealand in 1977. In 1981, I had done M.S. in Economics from the University of Rochester and in 1983 Ph.D. in Business from the University of Rochester in 1983 and New Zealand CPA. Previous to joining university, Professor I served fourteen years as a faculty at the M.I.T. Sloan School of Management, where I got awards for teaching excellence in all the three years 1991, 1992, and 1997. I was a co-author of one of the leading financial analysis textbook that is Business Analysis and Valuation. In 1993-94 I worked as Deputy Dean at the Sloan School, and in 1994-95 I visited HBS and LBS.
My main teaching interests involve corporate governance and accountability, strategic financial analysis, equity research at financial services firms, and financial reporting.
