Long Index-able Insert Tool

It contains mechanical tool holder and an index-able insert with top and bottom that can be reground to accurate geometry. Regrinding is done by grinding the ends of inserts normal to the side only sufficient to clean up the cutting edge. Inserts are available in rectangular square, diamond, round, triangular shapes.

Throwaway or Disposable Insert Tool

It refers to the cutting tool insert, which is held mechanically in the tool holder. The inserts are utilized depending upon the shape and insert geometry. Inserts have number of cutting edges that can be indexed into position. While all the cutting edges are utilized, the insert is discarded and not re-sharpened. This procedure eliminates the tool grinding requirement. Inserts are available in triangular, round, diamond, square, parallelogram and button shapes.
