Applications of Induction Motors:

Squirrel cage induction motor is utilized for the loads require low starting torques and substantially constant speed. Squirrel cage motors with comparatively low rotor resistance are utilized for fans, centrifugal pumps, etc. Cage motors with comparatively high rotor resistance are utilized for crushers, compressors, etc.

Wound-rotor motors are utilized for hoists, cranes, elevators, compressors, etc.
