Bipolar transistor
Bipolar transistors have 2 P-N junctions which are connected together. This is done in either of 2 ways: a P-type layer sandwiched between 2 N-type layers, or an N type layer between 2 P-type layers.
Bipolar transistors, like diodes, can be made from various semiconductor sub- stances. Silicon is the most common material used.
