Types of Line and their Applications:

Now we justify the types of lines, their thickness and application for use in technical drawings.

Types of Line

The types of line and their applications are as given in Table. It is recommended that only line types as given in Table shall be utilized. Typical applications of different types of line are shown in diagrams.

Proportional and Thickness Dimensions of Lines

Two thicknesses of lines are utilized. The ratio of the thick to the thin line shall not be less quite than 2: 1. Grading of lines is in two increases. The thickness of lines must be selected, according to the size and the category of the drawing, from the following range as: 0.18, 0.25, 0.35, 0.5, 0.7, 1, 1.4, 2 mm. For all views of single piece to the similar scale, the thickness of the lines must be the similar.
