ARCH FOUNDATION

In the places Inverted arch foundations are provided where the SBC of the soil is very poor and the load of the structure is through walls. In such type of cases inverted arches are constructed between the walls. End walls might be sufficiently thick and strong enough to withstand the outward horizontal thrust due to arch action. To strengthen them the outer walls may be provided with buttress walls. Given shows a typical inverted arch footing.
