How to write a perfect thesis
Before attempting to explain how to write a perfect thesis, it is important to understand what a thesis is actually. A thesis is, in simple terms, a short reflection of the activities carried out, the results obtained and the conclusions derived from a research work which has been done on a topic over a long span of time. A thesis can be of any particular topic about which someone has researched thoroughly, as part of his or her dissertation or project work. Generally before beginning a project, there must be some hypothesis associated with it, based on which a person starts his experimentation. Now, it is more often than common, in science especially, that no matter what the hypothesis or target might be, in the end there are always some variations involved, some of which might turn out to be pretty startling. So, a good thesis should actually involve those crucial experiments and results which will give it a very distinct perspective.
So now, you are done with your experiments, you have your results and now you are stuck as you don’t know where to begin with writing your thesis. It is not actually that unachievable a target, since if you become a little systematic in your approach; it becomes easier for you to prepare it. The first thing that needs to be kept in mind is to keep it simple and lucid.
Start by writing a small introduction on your topic, which would include the objectives of your research work and the various ways by which you would like to carry out your study.
Next, mention in brief the methods and/or techniques which you used to carry out the study. After this, you must put your results in accordance with the methods used and also show the analysis of those results. After the methods and results are done with, comes the most important part, the conclusion. This is a bit tricky, but if handled well, can fetch your thesis a real good score. When you conclude, always stick to your strongest point in such a way, that neither does it sound too rigid, nor does it sound infirm which would give room to the judges to point out many drawbacks. Try to be as convincing as possible so that the number questions you would be asked will be less and not only that, if you keep your thesis simple and understandable, then it will be perceived better, and hence lesser confusion would be aroused.
To sum it up, here are the little tricks you just need to keep in mind while writing a thesis:
• Keep it simple so that it is easily understood by everyone
• Try to be convincing as your thesis will defend your project and its results
• Be assertive in your presentation, as it will not make your thesis appear to be too rigid
• Don’t write words like “it seems like or it is most likely”
• Don’t try to put in too much data. Avoid less significant ones to avoid overcrowding
• Don’t be too specific either in the details as you may avoid important ones in doing so
These are a few simple steps you may take into account while preparing for your thesis. I am sure you will have your own innovative ideas as well, which you might want to put to use, but be sure not to sway from the main objectives.
