What is approximation, Mathematics

approximate value is the precise or the accurate value which is measured  to the actual value.., approximation is how close the measured value is to the actual value , for example square root of 3 is 1.732, 

but actual value is 1.732143.....so the value measured is close to the actual value nearly 99.9 percent
