What are the approaches to the design of retaining walls?
The approach to the design of retaining walls can be started as follows:
a. Chosse a trial dimension of the wall
b. Find out the active thrust against the wall
c. Find out the sliding resistance at the base of the wall due to the weight of the wall and the soil
d. Find out the passive resistance at the toe of the wall
e. Varify whether the resistance exceeds the active thrust whether the resisting moment exceeds the overturning moment, and whether tension is created in any horizontal section of the wall. Adopt suitable factors of safety.
Explain about the eccentrically loaded footings. ECCENTRICALLY LOADED FOOTINGS When footings have overturning moments and axial loads, the base pressure under the footing wi
Cobalt-base super alloys (e.g. UNS R30155 (Grade 661) and R30816 (Grade 671)) have superior strength to the nickel base alloys above 1800°F (980°C). The refractory metal alloys
