Theories of leadership , HR Management

Comment on the various theories of leadership and comment on which model can best be applied to your organisation.  Take a particular team and making reference to what is considered to be a good team, assess its strengths and weaknesses.  Give particular attention to the performance of the team leader and develop an action plan for team development.

Task Content:

You might think of your assignment in terms of having a few main sections:

1. Give a summary of the main theories of leadership making reference to particular issues such as leadership qualities, leadership styles and transactional versus transformational leadership.  Describe one particular model in more detail.

2. Using one or two models only assess leadership in your organisation against them. 

3. Describe what is meant by team working and taking an actual team you are familiar with, undertake some diagnostic/self-assessment tests and summarise the results.  

4. Develop an action plan for improving any areas of team process and performance that evidently need improvement.   This should be written as a team development plan.
