Orientation to the Paediatric Unit

When the family arrives at the pediatric unit, they should be shown the room where their child will stay and the toilet facilities, the fancets turn on and off and how the toilet is flushed. The approximate time when meals are served as children should be provided for the family. If meals cannot be made available  to  them in their child's room, parents need  to know where they can eat their meals. The parents and children should be explained where and how they can call a nurse if they need help. The nurse's  desk or caring station should be identified  to parents. The call button or intercommunication system in their own room should be demonstrated.
