Logic gates - and gate:

Figure shows the symbol that represents 2 input AND gate together with its truth table. This gate will only adopt a 1 state at its output terminal when both the inputs A and B, are at the 1 state. This function can be represented by two switches, A and B, connected in series such that the circuit is made only when both switches are CLOSED. (i.e., both in the 1 state).
