Illustrate the basic structure of the von Neumann machine

The following figure shows basic structure of the von Neumann machine. A von Neumann machine has only a single path between control unit (CU) and the main memory.  This   constraint / feature is referred to von Neumann bottle neck. Various other architectures have been suggested for the modern computers von Neumann Machine.

• Treats both Program and Data equally
• One port to Memory. Simplified Hardware
• "von Neumann Bottleneck" (rate at which data and program can get inside the CPU is limited by bandwidth of the interconnect)
