Q. How to evaluate quality of Bricks?

1. Clour -Deep red, Carry red, Copper red, colour is indication of uniform burning and also suggests quality of clay used. Over brunt bricks has bluish while under brunt bricks are dull red in clour, yellow clour in brick indicates presence of magnesium oxide.

2. Shape - Perfectly rectangular with opposite faces parallel to each other and adjacent faces at right angles. Bricks shall have all edges sharp, broken or blunt edges should not exist.

3. Size -Permissible variation of ± 3mm in length, width & thickness for Ist class bricks. For IInd class bricks this variation will be permitted up to ± 5 mm in length & width and ± 2 mm. In thickness. In IIIrd class bricks permissible variation is ± 6 mm in all direction.
