  1.  It should be easy to operate, with minimal training of nursing personnel. 
  2.  Should be reliable, and thoroughly tested in various nursing settings. 
  3.  Should be flexible (not too many compulsory fields to fill out). 
  4.  Operationally fast. 
  5.  Data access/security features should be clear. 
  6.  Have an instruction manual and/or online help web page. 
  7.  Have data back-up/protection features.
