The formation of sperm cells, or spermatogenesis, begins with a germ cell called as spermatogonium (2n) that suffers mitosis and gives birth to the spermatocyte I (2n). The spermatocyte I undergoes meiosis I and produces two spermatocyte II (n) that then undergo meiosis II and make four spermatids (n).
