If I am a middle manager in a company and planning a training sessions for my supervisors on effective versus ineffective leadership, I will discuss about an effective leadership which is totally based on winning the hearts of the team members. Effective leadership tells us about that leadership which helps the organization to achieve its goals and objectives by the help of better leadership skills in the organization. This leadership skills and styles carries right personality which takes the team in right direction to move towards the common goal and an effective leader always use to learn from other mistakes and never takes any wrong step, an effective leader always gives proper direction to its team members. When we compare effective and ineffective, we understand that effective talks about efficient and excellent leaders whereas ineffective leadership is of no worth in the organization, they does not create any value nor they makes any difference in the organization.
The discussions about theory X which is an autocratic decision-style method says about a leader who is very much focused with his or her goals and believes in the power which a team needs to possess to influence their goals and a leader also influence inspires and motivates his team members towards reaching their goal. This leadership style always help and creates a difference in the organization. This type of leader has total control over their problems as well as they believe in managing their tasks as well as decisions. The autocratic decision style represents quick decision making, total control, and submission of work within deadline etc, accuracy in work. It depends on the leader's personality and his way of style to approach the members in the team and to achieve the goals. These leaders are very crystal clear with the thoughts and the decisions as well as their work and goals.
When we are concerned about theory X, we know that there is no information and proper in-depth knowledge provided to people who have just entered in the group and the leaders are given high power to decide the decision. In autocratic decision style, leaders are given great power to take a decision and there is no involvement of executives etc. They assign work without consulting or co-coordinating with their employees and they assign without involving their team members in that decision because in theory X executives are lazy, they don't want to complete the task with in time so the leaders need to be strong in handling their team members with strict rules and regulations and they need to be very fast while making any decisions.
The discussions when we talks about the experience of an executive, the experience of an executive are not that good because they don't get friendly environment, they don't get time for communication, for re-creation, for decision-making, they don't get time to understand their work and thus they don't even expect proper growth and development from an organization where they are working. Their experience sounds too bad as they feel exhausted, disturbed, frustrated and sometimes they even want to leave the organization due to this bad and worst experience. Here, in this case, employee becomes dependent on their leaders as well as managers for each decision, for any kind of work but the organization and senior management used to motivate these employee's by providing them great rewards and recognitions for their better performance and for respecting their work. This leadership and decision style can be used for theory X where employees are not well experienced and I endorse fear for this type of leadership. But on the other hand if they take it in a positive sense they surely will grow in future and will be able to improve their quality of work and achieve their goals so as will be able to increase the part of productivity.
For example: In the field of business, when in a early stage, people enter with the initial position of sales executive, front executive in any organization where he or she has to follow lots of rules and regulations as well as need to know and understand about the work and have to face difficulties like strictness of their team leader on the one hand and similarly on the other hand this will enhance their skills and leadership quality, thought process and working strategy that's why people become good leader and marketing manager after a certain period of time like Steve Jobs. We have another example of an entrepreneur like Mr. Azim Premji and Mr. Arindam Chaudhari who have done a great job.
