Determine the volume of the object, Mathematics

Assignment Help:

A rectangular container is 15 cm wide and 5 cm long, and contains water to a depth of 8 cm. An object is placed in the water and the water rises 2.3 cm. Determine the volume of the object?

a. 92 cm3

b. 276 cm3

c. 172.5 cm3

d. 312.5 cm3

c. To determine the volume of the object, we must determine the volume of the water that is displaced after the object is inserted. Since the container is 5 cm wide and 15 cm long, and the water rises 2.3 cm after the object is inserted, the volume of the displaced water will be found by multiplying length by width by depth: (5)(15)(2.3) 172.5 cm3.
