Determine the types of blood

There are three types of blood cells. They are Red Blood Corpuscles (RBC), White Blood Corpuscles (WBC) or leucocytes and blood platelets or thrombocytes.

RBCs contain haemoglobin for carrying oxygen and enzyme for transport of carbon dioxide. The different types of white blood cells are: neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils, lymphocytes and monocytes. They are defense force of our body.  Some of them directly fight with bacteria, virus etc. and destroy them. Some of themproduce a substance called antibody which kills virus, bacteria etc. Platelets are essential for blood clotting which is necessary to stop bleeding.

Blood carries oxygen, carbon dioxide, glucose, amino acids, fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, waste products, hormones and enzymes from one part of the body to the other. Blood also takes part in our defense mechanism and temperature regulation.
