Define the starch gel electrophoresis, Biology

Assignment Help:

Define the Starch gel electrophoresis?

Starch gel has the advantage of fine texture and absence of protein adsorption with a molecular sieving effect retarding proteins of larger molecular size. The starch used is partially hydrolyzed since native starch does not gel. The proper preparation of starch gels is relatively difficult and its use has now been superceded by acrylamide gel.
