Define the Spalling - underwater inspection of bridge?

A spall is a roughly circular or oval depression in the concrete. Corroding reinforcement can cause spalls and reinforcing steel is often exposed. Spalling occurs as the cracks worsen. Spalls result from the separation and removal of a portion of the surface concrete.
