Define the functions of the Macrophages
The macrophages:
1) phagocytose microorganisms and inert particles
2) secrete IL-1 (Interlukin I), TNF (tumor necrosis factor), G-CSF ('granulocyte colony-stimulating factor) and M-CSF (macrophage colony-stimulating factor).
3) Process and present the antigen to immuno competent cells.
4) Destroy old RBC, initiates catabolism of Hb.
