Write one term paper (20 to 25 typed pages of actual text). **The paper must be on a word, phrase, or clause within the U.S. Constitution. Ex. Establishment Clause, Free Exercise Clause. The paper may be any aspect of civil rights\liberties. (Major decisions of the U.S. Supreme Courts in the realms of freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion, equal protection of the law and Congressional enforcement of civil rights).

The paper must demonstrate judicial reasoning, that is, reasoning by analogy using the syllogism. Must be able to extrapolate principles and doctrine from one case and apply them to another judicial controversy. (Do a textual analysis). The cases need to be in ascending order that the decisions were made. Ex. 1800s-1900s. (Like tree branches).

Must use 15 to 20 U.S. Supreme Court Decisions as reference that focus on one Supreme Court Doctrine, why these cases are still important and why we remember them today?

Focus on one part of the Constitution. Be sure to cite authorities properly.
