Carbonyl compounds provide chemical reactions due to carbonyl group and α-hydrogens.

Carbonyl compounds' Chemical reactions can be categorized into following categories.

(a) Nucleophilic addition reactions

(b) Addition followed by elimination reactions

(c) Oxidation

(d) Reduction

(e) Reactions due to α-hydrogen       

(f) Condensation reactions and

 (g) Miscellaneous reactions
