Britain after 1688-The Glorious Revolution of 1688 to1689 replaced the reigning king, James II, all along with the joint monarchy of her Dutch husband, William and his protestant daughter Mary. This was the milestone of the Whig those opposed to a Catholic succession history of Britain.

As per to the Whig account, the events of the revolution were revolution and the bloodless settlement established the supremacy of parliament over the crown, setting Britain upon the path in the directions of parliamentary democracy and constitutional monarchy.
