Blood Vitreous Barrier:
The blood vitreous barrier consists of three components: Tight junctional complexes at the level of vascular endotheliuin, pigment epithelium of retina and non pigment epithelium of ciliary body. Basal laminia of vitreo retinal junctions: It blocks the passage of large molecules. Vitreous Cortex: Cortical vitreous effectively blocks the movements of cells, macromolecules and cations. Other then the factors given above the active transports 'pumping mechanism and small surface area are responsible for vitreo retinal barrier.
