Art after 1945: The art after 1945 is the art generated at the present point in time. Some art museums & collections describe contemporary art as including all art since the end of World War II more particularly since the year of 1945. A similar kind of term to contemporary art is Modern art. Postmodern art would also be constituent of contemporary art.

However, It was only after World War II that the U.S. became the central point of new artistic movements. The 1950s & 1960s saw the emergence of, Color field painting, Abstract Expressionism, Pop art, Hard-edge painting, Op art, Lyrical Abstraction, Minimal art, Post minimalism, Photorealism and several other movements. In the late year of 1960s and the 1970s, Land art, Conceptual art, Performance art, and other new art forms had attracted the attention of curators & critics, at the cost of more traditional media.
