Analytic Characters - Nature and Structure of Community

As you know a community has its own characteristics. Which are not shown by its individual component species. These characteristics have meaning only with reference to community level of organisation.

The community characters mainly are of two types: analytic and synthetic. In this section we shall discuss the analytic characters. These are categorised as:

  1. Qualitative
  2. Quantitative

Qualitative characters are difficult to measure, whereas the quantitative characters can be measured readily.
