Advantages of resistance welding


1. Resistance welding is very fast compared to arc welding.

2. Almost any combination of metals can be resistance welded provided necessary precautions are taken.

3. No edge preparation is needed for resistance welding: surface cleaning will suffice.

4. Highly skilled operators are not required unlike in arc welding. In resistance welding, once the parameters are set by the engineers and  supervisors, the operator's job is restricted to loading and unloading of the material and operating some knobs.

5. No filler metal or shielding is required, hence resistance welding is more economical.
