Accumulator - Registers

It is an  8 bit  registers which  is the most  important  part of  the arithmetic  and logic unit.  It is used to store  8 bit  data.  The result  of arithmetical and logical operations are stored  in the  accumulator. It is  also  used to receive data from  input  port to microprocessor  and  to sends data to output  from  microprocessor.  It is  referred  as register   A in  the program.

The bits of any register are referred  as D7 -D0 as shown in figure.
