Writing in 1958, Raymond Williams said that "culture is ordinary" and that it is not inherently ‘good' or ‘bad.' Further, he said that ‘good' culture is not shrinking because ‘bad' culture is expanding, but rather that "we live in an expanding culture, and all the elements in this culture are themselves expanding" (1993, p. 14).***

In reviewing what you have learned in this course to date about persuasion, do you think Williams's opinion about culture in contemporary society would be the same today? Why or why not? (You might want to find and use a contemporary example of contemporary culture for this.) Whether you answer yes or no, would you agree with the opinion that you think Williams would have today?
