Conflict generally arises due to lack of communication. If manger seems that there is conflict arises because they are not talking to each other than in that case set up a time for a discussion. Best way is to encourage the employees to talk through the problem. Another conflict arises if an issue has been escalated or one of the employees has short tempered. In this situation effective way is written communication (Kreidler, 2005). Written communication is an effective way to break down the silos and resolve the conflict. In discussion there can be a situation where it lead to another conflict if two or employees have issues and it lead to other way that it acceptable. In such a case written communication is best way to handle the issues between the employees is to write the letter to other presenting the problem, as in this case instead talking face to face they get the opportunity to more carefully select their words. On the other hand discussion proves to more worthy if there is healthy relationship between the employees and they are eager to share their thought with each other (Kreidler, 2005). In some case, trying to solve the conflict can lead to escalation. This case arises when both the parties involved disagrees to admit to attempt any misconduct and continuously blaming other party. In such a situation, conflict must be left for a while or must try another technique to resolve the conflict. So it can be said that manager must select technique of conflict resolution to solve specific issues at the workplace.
Some conflicts within the group deal mostly with disagreements over how work should be done. They are referred to as task or cognitive conflicts because they focus on substantive, issue-related differences associated with the work itself. Relationship conflict, on the other hand, focuses on personalized, individually oriented, subjective issues that are dealt with more emotionally than intellectually.
