PURPOSE:
The purpose of this element of assessment is to invite you to examine and reflect on the interior landscape of your unique leadership perspective.
BACKGROUND:
This week the reading explored 'the symptoms at the tip of the iceberg of our current reality' (Scharmer & Kaufer, 2013, p. 27). The suggestion is that we are witnessing significant disruptive changes that are indicative of an emergent reality. As Scharmer & Kaufer (2013) point out:
A disruptive change affects not only our outer world, but also our inner self. Such moments bring our world to a sudden stop. They may be terrifying but they also constitute a great blank space that can be filled in one of two ways: by freezing and reverting to the patterns of the past, or by opening us up to the highest future possibilities.
TASK:
To reflect on our personal and professional lived experience of disruptive change.
You are required to submit an individual reflection on the following questions. The reflection should be at least 2 and no longer than 3 typed pages double spaced. Be sure to reference any sources that you use.
1. Where do you experience a world that is dying (in society, in your organization, in yourself?)?
2. Where do you experience a world that is waiting to be born (in society, in your organisation, in yourself)?
3. Where have you experienced moments of disruption (list at least two)? And what did you notice about your own process of presencing or absencing in each?
4. How do the ecological, socioeconomic, and spiritual-cultural divides show up in your personal experience of work and life?
