A pressure quantity survey is being undertaken in an access decline used as an intake airway to an underground mine. The survey uses both traverse barometer and trailing hose methods.

The decline is 250 m deep and 2,500m long with an excavation profile 5 m wide and 5 m high. The total resistance of the decline is 0.0229Ns2/m8

Barometric pressure on surface = 99.550 kPa

Average air density in the decline = 1.18 kg/m3

Air velocity in decline = 4.8 m/s

Trailing hose is 250 m long with pressure measurements made using an inclined manometer graduated in mm H20.
