The world of cultural studies really became popular post- World War II in Great Britain. During this time period, the historic cultural aspects of British society were quickly eroded as people were exposed to and consumed pop-culture streaming out of the United States.
In this discussion, you are going to answer a number of questions related to high and low culture:
1. Why do you think high culture has lost out to low culture in much of the Western World?
2. When was the last time you consumed something that would be considered "high culture"? What was your reaction to this experience?
3. Some have argued that the depreciation for high cultural artifacts in Western Society has led to the dumbing down of the populace. What role do you see modern education having in this process?
Once you have answered the questions, look at your peers' answers. Search out both areas of agreement and disagreement and respond to at least two of your peers.
