Imagine you recently graduated from an accredited traditional Chinese medical program, have all your credentials, and have begun your practice. A 72-year-old male patient walks into your office with a conventional doctor's diagnosis of walking pneumonia. You learn that the doctor is using outdated (20-year-old) treatment protocols. At the same time, you learn the 72-year-old male is also seeing a traditional healer who is treating him with a turtle shell concoctions on every new moon. Keeping in mind best practices and treatment protocols, how do you handle the patient? What other information must you consider in this scenario? What questions arise? Finally, what potential implications, if any, does the current scenario have on the conventional medical and of CAH therapies?
