There are 2 floors in the Pilgrim's bookstore. When customers first enter the store from the street, they have a choice of which floor to go to. There is only one cashier and that is on the first floor. On average 40% of the customers entering the store stay on the first floor and browse books. and an average of 60% go to the second floor and browse books. On average, customers who went to the first floor stay there for 30 minutes. On average 50% of the customers who go to the first floor leave without going anywhere else or buying anything. On average, of remaining customers who started at the first floor, 25% get in line to purchase items at the cashier and the remaining 25% go to the second floor to browse books. On average all customers who go to the second floor (including those who were went to the first floor initially) stay on that floor for 20 minutes. After that 60.0% get in line at the cashier on the first floor and then leave. The remaining 40.0% leave the store without buying anything, so they do not get in line at the cashier. The cashier process consists of a waiting line, which has an average of 1.5 customers in it. The average time to pay the cashier is 5 minutes. After paying, all customers leave the store. On average the throughput rate is 60 customers an hour Note that there is no capacity limit on browsing in the bookstore.
