Bob and Fred are both unemployed and thinking about applying for one of two jobs. Working as a barista offers relatively low-wages, and a low likelihood of promotions in the future, but the job is very easy to get. Working as a stock broker offers good wages and promotion prospects, but it's a very competitive job and therefore they are unlikely to get it if you apply. Bob has a substantial amount of debt and is unable to use credit to purchase anything, while Fred is extremely wealthy, and is able to use his wealth or credit for as long as he needs to purchase goods. Neither has an alternate income source (i.e., they have no unemployment insurance), and each can only apply to one job right now. Assume they are qualified for both jobs. Who is more likely to apply to each job?
Select one:
a. Bob needs a job now, so will apply for a job as a barista; Fred can afford to wait, so will apply to be an attorney.
b. Bob needs a job now, so will apply for a job as a barista; Fred doesn't need the money, so will apply for a job as a barista.
c. Bob needs money to pay down his debt, so he will apply to be an attorney; Fred doesn't need the money, so will apply for a job as a barista.
d. Bob needs money to pay down his debt, so he will apply to be an attorney; Fred can afford to wait, so will apply to be an attorney.
